SOLATIDO is a five-day retreat for aspiring and seasoned songwriters. Here's a chance to get away from real life and make time for your work in the company of other troubadours.
This year, we welcome the amazing SHANA TUCKER, ChamberSoul cellist, singer-songwriter, and teaching artist, who will be working as chief prompt giver and writing and performance coach. As a singer-songwriter, Shana possesses a voice that defies categorization, effortlessly traversing genres with a powerful emotional range. Her soul-stirring performances are filled with passion and authenticity, drawing listeners like moths to a flame. Shana is a trailblazer, bringing her unique gifts to create a musical experience that is both timeless and contemporary.
Beyond the stage, Shana is a champion for equitable arts education. Her aim is to empower people of all ages to embrace their inherent creativity through joyful, accessible music education. Shana's goal is always to create communal experiences that inspire deeper connections through the transformative power of music.
Our regular faculty, including composer and record producer RICHARD PUTNAM and improvisational musician ALISON WEINER will continue to work with us as we flesh out our new tunes. Richard and Alison are amazing musicians who can add most any instrument to a new song.
At SOLATIDO we always learn from each other. Participants, whether beginning or accomplished writers, will have a chance to work with Shana through the morning writing prompts and peer collaborations. We'll prepare together for a showcase of individual works-in-progress on the last night of the workshop. As usual, we will be in residence at Wildacres with the Table Rock Writers Workshop--a group of fiction and nonfiction writers and poets. Solatido participants often like to sit in on some Table Rock faculty presentations and the writers in turn will join us for before dinner and late night jam sessions and the final concert. Enrollment is limited to 12.
The goal of SOLATIDO is to provide a relaxing environment where we can share our music in a noncompetitive atmosphere of professional support and encouragement.
Serious fun, we say.
Tuition includes room and all meals. See the registration page for details.
