HISTORY

In 2003, The Minnow School was lucky enough to grab a spot at Wildacres Retreat for a brand new workshop we hoped to offer for singer/songwriters. Music is a big part of our video work, and we love to be around musicians. SoLaTiDo, as we called it, has been an evolving event ever since. For the first six years, we invited a touring artist to come in for one day and give a workshop in songwriting and then perform for the participants. We had amazing artists on the mountain--Cosy Sheridan, Kate Campbell, Pierce Pettis, Marshall Chapman, Carrie Newcomer, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart. The rest of our stay on the mountain back then involved a lot of jamming, writing, talking, and socializing.

We agreed as a group that we wanted more. That's when we were lucky enough to engage pianist and composer Mike Craver to spend the whole five days on the mountain with us and work as a partner in filling out the songs that participants were writing.  We also added the Thursday night concert--a collaboration among all the songwriters--which we recorded, thanks to Mixer Mark Williams.

For the last decade, Richard Putnam has been our collaborator and has helped to arrange, produce, engineer and mix a very fine collection of tunes that each participant in SoLaTiDo receive as a complimentary gift in the new year. Alison Weiner joined us in 2017 to help out with additional instrumentation. So far, it's a winning format.

We invite you to join us! Nobody is a stranger here.
