A Workshop and Retreat for Singer/Songwriters
August 27-31, 2018 Wildacres Retreat, Little Switzerland, NC

Richard Putnam

Alison Weiner

SoLaTiDo is a five-day retreat for aspiring and seasoned songwriters. Here's a chance to get away from real life and make time for your work in the company of other troubadours. Composer and producer Richard Putnam and improvisational musician Alison Weiner return this year to work with the songwriters as we flesh out our new tunes. Richard and Alison are amazing musicians who can add most any instrument to a recording.

At SoLaTiDo you will also learn from some of the best singer/songwriters working in the region who regularly attend this workshop. The photo above demonstrates the passion of the group and how folks chip in and help build out the new tunes with harmony and added instrumentation.
Participants, whether beginning or accomplished writers, will have a chance to learn from each other in song circles, with morning writing prompts, and peer collaborations. We'll record one or two songs from each participant for a CD and prepare together for a showcase of individual works-in-progress on the last night of the workshop. Once again, we will be in residence at Wildacres with the Table Rock Writers Workshop--a group of fiction and nonfiction writers and poets. Solatido participants often like to sit in on some Table Rock faculty presentations and the writers in turn will join us for late night jam sessions and the final concert.

The Goal of SoLaTiDo is to provide a relaxing environment where we can share our music in a noncompetitive atmosphere of professional support and encouragement. Serious fun, we say.

Tuition includes room and all meals. See the registration page for details.Register.htmlshapeimage_5_link_0
Creating a musical community every year. . .

“I keep coming back to Solatido for the long view of the blue, blue mountain ridges, the morning and evening mists, oatmeal at breakfast, singing late into the night, adding harmonies to newly written songs, catching up with returning friends, meeting new songwriters, being inspired by the writers who share our time and space.
I come back for the luxury of time devoted to music and writing songs. It is simply necessary for me to be there. “
